Natural Healing Technique

Ki is an abstract energy that animates all living organism. Flowing on every living thing including plants, animals, and also human beings. If the person feels strong and confident, it signifies that the Ki of that person is high. But if the person feels weak and more like getting sick, the Ki of that person is probably low.

This Ki can be found in the air that we breathe, the food we eat, sunshine and from getting sleep. Meditation and breathing exercise can help increase the amount of Ki of our body. When a human dies, Ki will live the human’s body.

Regarding from the information above, we can tell that Reiki is a non-physical healing energy that made up of life energy. Reiki can’t be guided by our minds. If the Ki is being used correctly, it can cure illness but if this Ki is being misused it can cause health problems. But the main purpose of this energy is to heal an ill person.

Ki is the reason for health that flow through the human body, not the organs and tissue of our body. If the Ki flows naturally and not disturbing, it won’t cause any health problems but if the Ki is disrupted the organs and tissue will be affected. For that reason, the cause of the illness is the disruption of the Ki flow.

Take note that Ki responds in a person’s mind and feelings. The Ki flows according to a person’s thoughts and feelings. If the person’s thought is strong then the flow of Ki is strong and if the person’s thought and the feeling are weak, the flow of the Ki will also be weakened. Therefore our negative thoughts and mind is the main cause of the disruption of the flow of the Ki.

Our mind exists not only in our brain but it also exists in our entire body. Therefore if our negative thoughts affect our mind it also affects our entire body. This negative thoughts and feelings is the main problem, therefore we are greatly being delayed in eliminating them.

The best part of Reiki is it can through the unconscious part of our body where the negative Ki is inhibiting. When Reiki flows to the part that is being affected by this negative thoughts and feelings, it broke up and washed away all the negative thoughts and feeling that accommodates in our body. At the same time, Reiki allows the healthy flow of the Ki to replace the negative thoughts and feelings that have been washed out.

Find the Right Yoga Style for You

Hatha Yoga

If you are a beginner, it is recommended that you start with hatha yoga, rather than going for a form of yoga that demands greater strength and posture. The word Hatha means effort, or force, and it is slow and, therefore relaxing. It focuses on every pose in minute detail and helps beginners with accuracy and focus.

Iyengar Yoga

The pioneer of this form of yoga is B.K.S Iyengar. This is another form of yoga that is good for beginners and for those people seeking healing for their physical and mental injuries. It uses different postures and props, such as blocks and belts, to assist with the right positions.

Bikram Yoga

If you are lacking physical and mental strength, and want to learn how to control your weaknesses and gain strength, this is the best yoga style for you. However, it’s best not to jump into it before preparing your body and working up to it. This type of yoga is carried out in a room with a high temperature and the heat teaches your body to control itself as well as helping in toxin release through the skin. Doing yoga in a 104° F room is not at all for beginners and, if heat is not your cup of tea, don’t worry, there are still loads of other yoga techniques you can choose from.

Vinyasa Yoga

Another kind of yoga, to increase body strength and stamina, is Vinyasa yoga. Unlike Bikram yoga, it has nothing to do with temperature. There are different poses that you go into with continuous heavy breathing. The link between pose and breath is what drives the cycle. The quick movements make this form of yoga energy boosting.

Kinesio Taping

Kinesiotaping.com describes the Kinesio Taping® Method as a “rehabilitative technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints, without restricting the body’s range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting.” Benefits of KTex® Tape include that it is Latex-free and wearable for up to several days at a time. It is also safe for populations ranging from pediatric to geriatric, and when utilized properly successfully treats a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, and neurological conditions. KTape does this by targeting different receptors within the somatosensory system which allows the tape application to alleviate pain

I recently had the pleasure of utilizing KTape applications, in conjunction with rehabilitation exercises, to assist a patient in obtaining a significant increase in sensory perception, range of motion, and function following an acute trauma induced case of drop wrist. The clinical application response was astounding. Following six weeks of traditional physical therapy the patient continued to experience a severe deficit in range of motion, strength, and sensation. She came to me essentially with little to no improvement and a whole lot of hope for better than what she was being told. Realizing none of her therapies included post treatment sensory input. My idea was to perform range of motion therapy in conjunction with electrical stimulation to essentially “wake up” the radial nerve and utilize the kinesio tape post therapies to afford constant sensory input. I hoped to create therapy input longevity as with enough active input and additional passive input this may allow the affected nerve to regain activity thus function. Following the first manual therapy I applied kinesio tape along the extensors of the wrist, with a 25% stretch. This was to see if KTaping was a viable option. Her following visit she explained for the first time since starting any treatment she had felt “sensation” in her hand and lower arm. I perceived this as a positive response and began an aggressive drive for therapy and rehabilitation.

Six weeks later, several various strategic applications of KTape to promote wrist, finger, thumb, and appropriate forearm motion and sensation she presented to her specialist. The patient’s improvement at that time was estimated at 60%. Her doctor ordered six more weeks of therapy. After six weeks of aggressively rebuilding the neuromusculoskeletal communication aspects again of her wrist, hand, and thumb, kinesio tape was used throughout the patient’s therapy. I utilized kinesio tape throughout the patient’s therapy as a means of providing constant neuromuscular feedback with the intention of reinforcing therapy.

I am happy to say this patient I share about has seen her specialist again and has been graded at 95% capacity with long term residuals of slightly diminished sensation and the highly likely occasional flare up of the accommodating muscles and joints with increased use. Of course KTape will be ready for that.

To see and utilize the Kinesio Taping technique first hand is nothing short of phenomenal. Kinesio Taping® certainly has come a long way since starting as a twinkle in Dr. Kase’s brain in 1973. It also appears to have a bright future in the clinical setting.

Dr. Windy Foust is a graduate of Parker College of Chiropractic and a licensed Arizona chiropractor. At a young age she had experienced rotator cuff damage that would traditionally require surgery. She was unable to seek traditional medical attention thus learned to live with the pain and restriction. Her personal pain and restriction eventually lead her in pursuing treatment options that were non invasive and effective. This experience gives her passion is to help those with joint pain and restrictions achieve relief and to ultimately get their lives back. She does this by applying various non invasive techniques, such as kinesio tape, in treatments for her patients with such conditions as shoulder, knee, elbow, wrist, and ankle pain and mobility restriction or instability.
